About iCTLT 2018

Introduction

The Ministry of Education, Singapore is organising the International Conference on Teaching and Learning with Technology (iCTLT) 2018 from 30 May to  1 June 2018 at the Resorts World Convention Centre. The three-day conference comprises a half-day pre-conference (30 May) and two-day main conference (31 May to 1 June). 

The biennial iCTLT is a strategic platform for educators to provide thought leadership and champion the effective use of technology for 21st century learning. The conference aims to gather policy makers, educators, and researchers to share their insights, practices, experiences, and research on harnessing technology for 21st century learning. Conference speakers and participants can envision and discuss emerging trends, pedagogical use of cutting-edge technology, and innovative use of established technology for teaching and learning. 

Theme

The conference theme is “Shape the Future, Be a Spark.” The focus for iCTLT 2018 is on the importance and catalytic nature of educators’ role in helping to realise our vision for ICT in Education, which is to nurture “Future-ready and Responsible Digital Learners.” Every educator has a significant role to play in translating the future according to his or her ability and contribution.   “Shape the Future” focuses on educators leveraging forward-looking perspectives and ideas through embracing innovation, and their multi-faceted role in helping students become future-ready by fostering a culture of lifelong learning in a digital world. “Be a Spark” revolves around creating opportunities to spark the joy of learning in students and develop them to be responsible digital learners through designing ICT-enabled learning experiences and environments.

Strand 1: Shape the Future

This strand focuses on educators taking on forward-looking perspectives and ideas through embracing technology-based innovation, and their multi-faceted role in helping students become future-ready by fostering a culture of lifelong learning in a digital world. 

The two sub-strands are: 
  • Embracing innovation; 
  • Fostering a culture of lifelong learning.

Strand 2: Be a Spark

This strand revolves around creating opportunities to spark the joy of learning in students and develop them to be responsible digital learners through designing ICT-enabled learning experiences and environments. 

The two sub-strands are: 
  • Designing ICT-enabled learning experiences and environments to spark the joy of learning in students; 
  • Nurturing students to be responsible digital learners.
